Storrs Hall required a new site, that would help prevent confusion, due to the high number of people booking a hotel room instead of a lodge. To achieve this The Boathouse and Storrs Lodge's were given their own identity, mini-site and dedicated navigation.
In designing the site, Storrs Hall preferred the use of large photographs, because of their location, it is difficult to cover all the surrounding beauty Storrs Hall's has to offer. This is where the Instagram feed featured on the site steps in showcasing the hotel facilities, lake and surroundings. A photograph or a video can be very powerful when used to enhance the user's experience. Storrs Hall has a very strong social media presence which in the summer months is dominated by Weddings. All social media channels have been promoted along with the heading 'Share your #storrshall escape', which is the hashtag used to feature on the site's homepages.
The main purpose of the site is to support the already popular the Weddings and proposal's business at Storrs Hall, along with encouraging users to book direct, plan their break through the site and promote the Restaurant and Tower bar.
In helping users plan their break, we have used specialised Fiz Maps in the form of a map on the main landing page and detailed tiles on the specific pages. Rainy day? The site lists all activities, museums and entertainment near Storrs Hall that is suitable for rainy days out.
To help those on mobile devices or those after information fast, on all informative pages, there are side navigation next to the main content and links within the content, to help users navigate the site more efficiently.
